Amy Pomykal
Faith is not knowing God can,
it is knowing God will.
A
Good Girl
The baby of the family, Amy
Pomykal grew up to be bold and
passionate, embracing life and
adventure. Raised in a loving,
God-honoring home, she learned
about God as a child, but never
realized what He was preparing
for her. Rededicating her life
at the age of 17, Amy knew God
was calling her to be more than
just a “good little girl.”
A healthy 29-year-old, living a
fulfilling life and giving of
herself, Amy’s life changed
forever when one Saturday night
her husband found her on the
kitchen floor in the fetal
position. Four grand maul
seizures later she was diagnosed
with a malignant brain tumor and
given about six months to live.
God Was Already There
Fear was incapacitating at
times, but God had not given Amy
a spirit of fear. Claiming that
2 Timothy verse, Amy told Satan
to go jump in a lake. She wanted
to live and was not ready to
meet her maker this way.
Embracing the scripture “by His
stripes we are healed” Amy
pressed on to live.
With her blood too damaged by
chemo, there were few options
for further treatment. Amy
prayed for peace and researched
for the open door she knew God
had prepared. With faith in
God’s promises, she closed her
eyes and turned to Him. God
opened the door to a closed
clinical trial at Duke Hospital.
There she found wonderful,
positive doctors and a lifetime
friend in her nurse, Denise.
It Is Well
Given the opportunity, Amy would
not give back the past two
years. God’s word became as real
and alive as a breathing person.
Her understanding of His Word
pierced her heart, worship and
prayer became alive and
intimate. Whether she lives or
dies, it is well with Amy’s
soul.
Amy’s
speech:
I
Choose Life!
Stop pouting!
God has a plan whether you like
it or not.
Amy’s
is the story of a woman who
won’t give up life, but gave it
up to God. Living through the
worst that could happen, she
learned God already has her life
mapped out.
There is
no sense in fearing the bad
things because they are what
make you strong and complete.
Scripture even tells us to
consider it pure joy when we
face trials. They’re going to
happen, so be prepared by having
faith and hope because God’s
mercies are new every morning.
Because we
will all have troubles of some
kind, Amy’s encouraging story
gives us hope that it is all in
God’s plan and He has a purpose.
Everything works for the good of
those who love Him.
Who should attend?
Anyone
who:
w
has faced death or faced it as a
caregiver.
w
has felt the impact of despair.
w
suddenly realized they don’t
really have control of their own
life.
w
needs to strengthen their faith
in themselves and in God.
