Dennis Waddill
Getting out of God’s Way
No trust in God leads only to
heartache.
Growing up
in the redneck town of Mesquite,
Texas, Dennis Waddill was abused
from birth to the age of eight.
Anger, low self-esteem and
rebellious disobedience were a
result of his abuse, producing a
man who was angry at the world
and did not feel wanted or
loved. Violence was his only way
of solving problems.
A
loving wife changed Dennis’s
concept of life.
Despite
the fact that Dennis did not fit
in with other people, he went to
Vietnam for nearly a year and a
half. He married two and a half
years later and began raising
his family. He was finally
convinced, after 3 years into
his marriage, that his wife
truly loved him. This was a
concept he had never experienced
before. She showed him that he
was lovable, becoming Dennis’s
sanity in this insane world. She
died in 1993 after 18 years of
marriage.
Dennis
got out of the way so God could
get in his way.
Forgiveness from his family led
Dennis to believe that the Lord
would also forgive him. God
heard his prayers, led him back
to church and delivered him from
drugs and alcohol addiction. He
became Dennis’s sanity as he
began to trust Him for every
little thing in his life. God
revealed that by getting
on-going sin out of his life
that He would draw closer to him
and show His pure love. God
enabled Dennis to focus only on
Him, and became the center cog
in Dennis’s life, one day at a
time. God has lit an
ever-burning fire in Dennis’s
spirit to please Him and seek
only His will and purpose.
Dennis’s speech:
God’s
Sanity in this Insane World
Letting God be the Center Cog
This is a
story of attainable hope,
bringing one man into
discipleship from the
hopelessness of a life of
violence and abuse.
Trusting
in the things of this world for
hope is fleeting. True happiness
and the joy of serving God can
only be found through trusting
Him. Being hot for Jesus is not
good enough. We need to be on
fire for the Lord.
No matter
what the circumstances or how
far a person has sunk, God is
there as our sanity in this
insane world. Only by making Him
the center cog in our lives, can
all the other pieces come
together.
