Jim Webb
Walking with the
Tiger
A
Wonderful Childhood
Jim Webb’s is the story of a man
who is a survivor. A father of
five, Jim has been blessed with
a marriage of 51 years and
counting. Born in rural Indiana
and educated in a two-room
school house, Jim eventually
attained a master’s degree in
engineering. He had loving, kind
parents and extended family who
supported his curiosity
throughout his childhood.
A
Life of Faith
As a young child, Jim accepted
Christ’s love for his life.
Music became his outlet for
sharing Jesus with others. As he
grew into adulthood he received
blessings from the Lord that
were beyond measure. Those
blessings gave him a deeper love
for God and helped him build a
stronger faith when his health
declined later in life.
Opportunities through Tragedy
After triple bypass surgery in
1989 and a life-threatening
experience with Strept II (flesh
eating bacteria) seven years
later, Jim was diagnosed with
Leukemia in 1999. After
admittance to MD Anderson Cancer
Center for treatment he happened
upon a man playing piano for
cancer patients. Jim sang as he
played and, in that moment,
understood God was leading him
to minister in song to cancer
patients and their families. Now
cancer free, Jim continues to
look for opportunities in which
to serve God and, through Him,
serve others.
God’s
Sparrow
Jim considered his physical
illnesses to be tests of his
faith. The Lord kept his eye on
him, and Jim is sure He will
continue to do so until the time
he takes him home. Jim’s life as
a sparrow has given him both a
spiritual and secular
responsibility to use his gifts
for the good of the lives of
others.
Jim’s
speech:
My Life as a Sparrow
How to See the Simplicity of
God’s Care for Us
The Lord
gives us wisdom to make choices,
but His choices include more
care for us than we often have
for ourselves. True peace comes
from the realization that we can
put our lives in His hands.
We
search throughout our lives for
direction, often finding pop
answers in the media. It is
easier to predict our future
than to honestly expose our past
because we are not accountable
for the future.
Time spent with Jim will give
the audience a sense that no
matter what happens, God’s eye
is on us, giving us
opportunities to serve him and
grow in faith. You will learn
that, if we must, we can walk
with the tiger, as Jim did, and
not be eaten.
